The IUSM Dean's Office for Medical Education and Curricular Affairs, in collaboration with the Mindfulness in Medicine group and the Relationship-Centered Care Initiative (RCCI), invite submissions for inclusion in annual publication entitled Helping Hands: Expressions of Hope in our Community. We welcome submission of narratives, essays, poetry, photographs and other forms of printable creative expression.
Works will be chosen for inclusion in the Helping Hands publication that is distributed to medical students, faculty, physicians, patients, etc.
Tell us about a person, experience, piece of art, or life moment that conveys something about what it means to give or receive hope. For example, stories about ...
- interactions with patients, students, staff, faculty, health care providers, hospital volunteers or others who have helped you express hope
- words of hope that were shared with you
- how expressing hope helped with a personal illness, coping, loss, or professional challenges
- a community service experience
- a life moment that helped to illuminate how hope rose from despair
- receiving support or an expression of hope from a less visible or “unsung” member of the community
Photographs and other types of visual art should include an explanation or narrative about how the item is linked to the Helping Hands theme.
